Biblical Womanhood - Voddie Baucham:
Notes:
- Titus 2
- This is for married woman and men
- Titus 2:3-5
- Catechism - exposition of doctrine; serves as a learning introduction to the Sacraments; question and answering
- Modern youth ministry is a construct
- Segregating people by age is not a Biblical construct. Separating by class is a modern education movement that the Sunday school teaching has adopted —> which all comes from Darwinian evolution (this thing of class separation)
- Biblical Womanhood Abidying Traits:
- Be reverent (appropriate, meek) in behavior
- Bringing Honor to God and not attention to yourself
- An extroverted female is allowable, but that behavior must be reverent, bridled, self-controlled!
- “We’re not raising woman in our culture, but rather woman that act as men that are biologically capable of having children.” (Voddie)
- Father’s who let their daughters dress irrelevantly either push it off as “that’s the style” or the Father is projecting himself through the daughter because he wants that attention
- “Your value and worth is not contingent upon men lusting after you.” (Voddie)
- “Your price is above rubbies” the Scriptures say
- Teach woman to love their husbands and children
- How to love biblically that is. Not culturally or societally
- Fathers become incapable of loving their daughters when they mature and become older, which then forces the daughter to subconsciously seek for attention from other men. Fathers in this way have the wrong framing of love.
- To be self-controlled
- Men: go to a woman’s father before you go to her. That’s purity.
- If you want a skyscraper, you have to dig deep. DEEP!
- The world is spiritually war torn. So, you must give your all when committing to God’s mission for your life
- A wife and a mother is the greatest calling a woman has: to shape world-changers!
- Teach young woman to be submissive to their husbands
- Woman - your desire shall be for your husband
- Because:
- Woman war against submission due to the fall - see Genesis 3 and Genesis 4:7; other verses on submission in the Bible - Ephesians 5:21 and Ephesians 4:22 and 1 Corinthians 11
- Ephesians 5 (specifically Eph 5:15-21 - 3 contrasts, 3 commands, 3 contexts)
- 3 contexts of submission - wives to husbands, children to parents, servants to masters (neither is mutual here)
- AND even for un-Godly men.... see 1 Peter 3:1-2!
- Furthermore, and in more understanding, of 1 Peter 3:1-2... see 1 Peter 2:18-19
- Deutoronomy 6 - love the lord with all your heart and mind....
- Matthew 22
- Matthew 22:37-38
- Grow towards God and you’ll fall into communion with a Godly woman
Love that’s led by emotion= is not love- This doesn’t mean that we are unemotional beings. It just means what it means
- Garden of Gethsemane
