Revelation: Faith in Modern Times - Experience Community Church
Notes:
- “…People will believe a big lie sooner than a little one; and if you repeat it frequently enough people will sooner or later believe it.” (Adolf Hitler)
- Don’t open the Bible to merely read a book, read it to learn more about God and yourself. To expose you.
- Your life reflecting truth.
- “The life you live will be reflected by the truth you follow.” (Pastor speaking in the video)
- To live such a thing is to know why you believe what you believe.
- Do you go a full day without following God? Is he in your good and bad?
- A unique path will be paved if one follows Christ.
- Matthew 7:13 - enter through the narrow gate verse….
- "Is our faith in God the faith he wants us to have or are we seeking popularity?" (Pastor speaking in the video)
- 1 John 5
- "Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ has been born of God, and everyone who loves the Father also loves those born of Him." (1 John 5:1)
- People are trying to determine what truth is for themselves instead of conforming to God's Truth.
- The Jesus <> Pilot conversation in John 18:37 shows what a modern believer and non-believer could look like:
- "In today's culture, it is more wrong to judge evil than to do evil." (Pastor speaking in the video)
- "In relativism, people attempt to become the measure of all things in place of God." (Pastor speaking in the video)
- "To protect ourselves for the times to come [meaning worse times], we must clinge to Truth." (Pastor speaking in the video)
- "2 By this we know that we love the children of God: when we love God and keep His commandments. 3 For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome," (1 John 5:2-3)
- THE ABOVE is LOVING OBEDIENCE
- Why would modern people bother asking a radical Christian any questions, if said person is normal. People only ask if something is odd, off, weird, or annoying to their life - rarely is it out of curiosity and love.
- Walk like Christ to see like Christ.
- Unlike Moses, during his time, when he would talk to God and have to cover up his face since it was shining so bright..... as modern Christians, we are meant to unveil our faces to all, so others can see the light, which is actually seeing Jesus Christ - not ourselves.
- "4 because everyone born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world: our faith." (1 John 5:4)
- Humility:
- Faith:
- "Before we are called to overcome the world, we are first called to overcome the world within us." (Pastor speaking in the video)
- "Will a person feel like they've drawn closer to God if they spent one day with you." (Pastor speaking in the video)
- "5 Who then overcomes the world? Only he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.
- 6 This is the One who came by water and blood, Jesus Christ—not by water alone, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit who testifies to this, because the Spirit is the truth.
- 7 For there are three that testify:
- 8 the Spirit, the water, and the blood—and these three are in agreement. God’s Testimony about His Son
- 9 Even if we accept human testimony, the testimony of God is greater. For this is the testimony that God has given about His Son."
As the above shows, in example:
The rest of 1 John 5:5-9 is amazing:
