Notes:
- "God ordains your single time when you're young for devotion to Him." (Ben)
- "Marriage is meant to be a mission." (Ben)
- Mission - where are we going; what are we doing?
- Values - how will we support each other?
- How Jesus loves the church is how man and woman should love each other - unto death!
- The NT shows us one married couple: Priscilla and Aquila (a married couple devoted to missionary, mostly alongside Apostle Paul)
- They are an example of a couple pursuing Jesus Christ
- Acts 18:1-4
- Priscilla and Aquila leaving Rome; Paul joining and living with Priscilla and Aquila in their trade of tentmaking; every Sabbath, Paul would persuade Jews and Greeks
- Acts 18:24-26
- Priscilla and Aquila go to Ephesus with Paul. Paul then leaves and they are still there as a couple.
- One day, Priscilla and Aquila faithful go to service at a church and a man named Apollos is there preaching. He is excited, learned, yet misguided....
- So, Priscilla and Aquila take him under their wings and educate him "on the way of guide more accurately." (Acts 18:26)
- 1 Corinthians 16:19
- Romans 16:3-5
- A Couple in Christ is:
- Hospitable - money, home, and marriage is all about making Jesus known
- As Ben was talking around the 12-14 min mark in his talking about Priscilla and Aquila accompaning and housing Paul AND in a modern time example of Ben's friends accompaning and housing him [Ben] while he was in ministry when younger, it reminded me of Tom and Daniel when staying with me.
- The above clicks! Make every space and facet of your life (money, time, etc...) for the Lord and it will be a representation of Christ at the center of your life
- Acts 18:24-26, above, clicks for even more in my life! It relates to the Carlos situation with Mass and Alex when trying to make DB Marketing. Never huddle alone and outcast people if it's not meant to be done yet. Guide, help, question, and assist first!
- It's amazing to see how Priscilla and Aquila were so dedicated to the Lord. Doing everything and anything for Him at any time!
The willingness to go!
Beautiful end to this video and series and the way Ben ties it all together to his own life of leaving Breakaway after many years to go since he is being called to go pastor elsewhere. He lived by what he delivered in this series. He is pursuing Jesus and focused on expanding the Kingdom of God through churches here on earth. Wow.
"The mission is bigger than the man." (Ben)
Like, Paul says: who is Paul, who is Apollos, we are just servants. (As Paul says in his letter to the Corinthians)
