  • * THIS WILL COME WITH EXPERIENCE, REPETITION, AND TIME. BELIEVE YOU ARE GREAT AT THIS AND PRACTICE FOR "PERFECTION". YOU ARE THERE ANT!
  • Don't say "ummmm" when public speaking
    • Don’t use filler words (like, so, um, etc)
    • Don’t say I think or I believe (be assertive)
  • Speak slower (even then you are probably going too fast as well haha)
    • It also helps with confidence. Increasing confidence (also boosts testosterone and reduces cortisol)
  • Stand tall and speak with power, not just volume
    • Expand the body, expand the mind!
    • POWER POSES (before speech or convo or in mind during interaction)
    • Alter the body, and the mind will follow
      • Emotion follows motion
  • Eye contact with the audience is massively important
  • The stage is for the audience, not the speaker
  • "Anxiety gets sticky and destructive when we start becoming anxious about being anxious." (Amy Cuddy). So, embrace it, acknowledge it, and relax.
  • Volume should ebb and flow and follow the emphasize on which you want to place it for a certain part of your talk
  • Be animated and enthusiastic (even if you don’t know much about the topic, act like you do)
  • BREATHEEEEEE
  • Focus less on the impression you're making on others and more on the impression you're making on yourself.

Things, when fixed, will take me to the next level:

  • Filler words
  • Cherubic face
  • Hand movement
  • Pauses
  • Fluctuation of volume and emotion
  • Grammatical errors
  • Bad beginning and ending
  • Better and more deliberate stage movement

10 Tips for Public Speaking (@2011 Toastmaster's International):

  1. Know Your Material: Pick a topic you are interested in. Use humor, personal stories, and conversational language.
  2. Practice, Practice, Practice: Rehearse out loud with all equipment you plan on using. Revise as necessary. Work to control filler words; PRACTICE, PAUSE, BREATHE. Practice with a timer.
  3. Know the Audience: Greet some of the audience as they arrive. It's easier to speak to a group of friends than to strangers.
  4. Know the Room: Arrive early, walk around the speaking area and practice using the mic or visual aids.
  5. Relax: Relaxxxxxx. "Transform nervous energy into enthusiasm."
  6. Visualize Yourself Giving Your Speech: Imagine yourself speaking, your voice loud, clear, and confident. Visualize the audience clapping - it will boost your confidence.
  7. Realize That People Want You to Succeed: Audiences want you to be interesting, stimulating, informative, and entertaining. They're rooting for you.
  8. Don't Apologize: Please don't do that.
  9. Concentrate on the Message - Not the Medium: Focus your attention away from your own anxieties and concentrate on your message and your audience.
  10. Gain Experience: .
