“Feeling alone is, for most of us, worse than feeling harassed. In fact, feeling isolated activates the same ares of the brain as physical pain does.” (Presence by Amy Cuddy)
“Impostorism steals our power and suffocates our presence” (Presence by Amy Cuddy)
“Impostorism causes us to overthink and second-guess.” (Presence by Amy Cuddy)
How to Break Out of This Imposter State:
- Be fully aware of this imposter experience and acknowledge it
- Why are you feeling this way? Why are we hiding from ourselves?
- Meditate and pray on it
- Realize we overthink and over analyze everything as humans (well I used to and still do sometimes. It’s a constant work in progress)
- Only control and focus on things within your power
- Think about this: is it a deeper insecurity or an old fear that is causing this?
- Get to the root of the problem and address it from there
“New situations may stoke old fears; future sensations of inadequacy might reawaken long-forgotten insecurities. But the more we are aware of our anxieties, the more we communicate about them, and the smarter we are about how they operate, the easier they’ll be to shrug off the next time they pop up. It’s a game of whack-a-mole we can win.” (Presence by Amy Cuddy)
